In today’s world, where weight restrictions have made it difficult to enjoy traditional 5-inch freestyle flying, the Tony frame is designed to bring that experience back — now in a lightweight, durable, and fully O3-ready form.
The mission behind Tony was clear: build a sturdy yet ultralight 5-inch frame that still delivers the smooth handling and confidence of a full-sized drone. While creating such a frame requires careful balancing of weight and strength, FlyFishRC has optimized every detail to make Tony both fun to fly and easy to build.
The Tony frame features CNC-machined aluminum camera plates for superior camera protection and T700 carbon fiber for unmatched structural rigidity. It supports both analog and digital systems — including DJI O3, Walksnail HD, HDZero, and traditional analog setups (verify VTX dimensions for compatibility).
FlyFishRC recommends using an AIO flight controller for minimal weight, but a 20×20 mini stack can also be used. In test builds, a complete setup with Vista Nebula Pro, 2004 Flash motors, TBS Crossfire Nano, and a 380mAh 6S LiPo reached a total weight of just 248.7g.
When using the DJI O3 Air Unit, total weight may rise to about 260g due to its heavier design, but switching to a 4S battery or lightly modifying the O3 can help keep it under 250g.
Overall, Tony offers a dynamic and precise flying feel, agile but not overly floaty — a perfect balance for freestyle pilots seeking freedom under 250g.
